Jaehong “Jake” Choi, J.D.

Jake Choi is a Corporate Vice President and Advanced Planning Consultant with New York Life Insurance Company, supporting agents as a member of the Korean Cultural Market. Jake works with our New York Life agents to provide sophisticated insurance-based planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and their professional advisers.

Jake came to New York Life with substantial complex estate and business planning experience. Earlier in his legal career, he counseled clients in both individual and corporate tax-saving measures and financial products for a professional law corporation. Then in 2003, he began working for the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea located in Los Angeles, California, where he provided legal services in a variety of areas including business transactions and tax related issues. In 2006, Jake established his own law firm focusing in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, estate taxation, and various tax savings vehicles for both individual and business owner clientele.

With over 20 years’ experience in the areas of complex estate and business planning, Jake is uniquely situated to collaborate with New York Life agents to identify opportunities, determine the most effective planning techniques, and apply insurance-based strategies to successfully foster them.

Jake earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California in Berkeley. He is admitted to the State Bar of California. Jake is fluent in both English and Korean.
